What I’m reading – Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ’s Childhood Pal

,

My last book, Zero: The Biography of a Dangerous Idea, was a great book but heavy. I decided to go lighter this time.

Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ’s Childhood Pal had been recommended to me by a couple friends, so I decided to give it a try. It is a satirical take on what a younger Jesus would have been like. If a six-year-old or nine-year-old could perform miracles, what would that be like?

At the point in the story I’m at right now, he is nine. I would assume, Biff, who’s the childhood friend telling the story, will go all the way through Jesus’ life. So far it is entertaining. I’m very curious what Biff has to say as they both get older.

I will add a comment to let you know what I think after I read it.

  1. I wanted to like this book because it was recommended by a couple of friends I trust. I found myself wanting it to end and it seemed to keep going on and on. Satire is tricky. “Lamb” hit the mark some times but was often trying too hard. Others seem to like it a lot so maybe it’s just me who didn’t care for it too much.
