Will Holcomb lives in Smithville, Texas with his wife and two of their six kids.  The four older kids are out on their own starting families of their own.

Will was a fourth and fifth-grade school teacher before moving into the high-tech world as a Software QA Engineer.  A Bachelor degree in Elementary Education specialized in Life/Earth Science and a Master’s degree in Computer Science with a minor in Psychology shows Will’s broad range of interests.

The book, Illusions by Richard Bach was an influence in Will’s early adulthood and opened a path which has left him asking questions the rest of his life.  Then Robert Pirsig’s Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance sparked a new set of questions.  So it was not a surprise when The Infinite Jeff was described as a cross between those two books.

Unlike most authors, writing a book had not been a lifelong dream or ambition. But, like many authors, once the idea was in his head, the only way to get rid of it was to write. The idea for the book was inspired on the hour and forty minute daily commute to work while listening to Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions.  He called his sister, Jackie Powers, who is a writer, and pitched the idea to her for her to write. She didn’t have time but said if he would give her an outline she would write it.  So, Will sat down and started writing.  He describes the experience as being much like reading a book; he had to keep writing just to find out what was going to happen next.  Six months later the “outline” he gave Jackie was a 140,000 word rough draft.  The two of them have taken that story through many revisions but the story in the current version is almost identical to the rough draft, only better written.

Since then, Will has written four plays and worked with musicians to record multiple songs with his lyrics. Three of the plays, Clinically Un-Depressed, The Puzzler, and Shakespeare Rocks!, have been produced and with more productions coming. His fourth play, An Unsafe Place: A Love Story, is a rock opera with twenty original songs. That will premier in the near future.
